Car accidents, sports injuries, falls, broken bones, head/brain injury.
These are all forms of compression on a nerve, whether in the wrist, the pelvis, or the spinal column. Alignment of related structures can give the nerve the breathing room it needs to decrease pain and improve function.
Babies who are unusually fussy and have bouts of seemingly inconsolable crying may have colic, which is essentially "pinched nerves" at the base of the skull. A difficult delivery can contribute to head compression. Osteopathy can decompress any stuck spots and release the pressure on the nerve. Mom may also need to modify her diet and receive additional support. The nerves in this location are also responsible for proper latching, sucking, and swallowing.
Various "congenital" problems may actually be correctible, such as
Accidents and injuries can cause compression in the pelvis and sacrum (even if the injury is not directly to the pelvis or low back). Pain during pregnancy, prior difficult deliveries, or the baby being stuck in the same position can be indications of trouble. Osteopathy can improve the fluidity and flexibility of the pelvis to allow an easier birth process.
During delivery, the sacrum may become restricted, which directly affects the skull by way the membranous attachments. When the cranium doesn't move well, poor circulation of hormones and neurotransmitters can lead to post-partum depression and other mood and sleep disorders, hypothyroidism, etc.

The body must be free to move in all ways to function optimally. Various restrictions in the body can affect the fluctuation of the cerebrospinal fluid. Good circulation to, from, and within the brain are necessary for the body to adapt to changing environments by regulating neurotransmitters, hormones, electrolytes, etc. Problems can lead to
